Valve Recommendations

At this power level, replacing your OEM valves with aftermarket valves is a must! An aftermarket valve is constructed of materials that can withstand the heat. Aftermarket valves bend, OEM valves break. You will need to upgrade the material of your exhaust valves to the highest grade inconel to withstand all the boost you can throw at it!
Is a bigger valve better? Nope, we will not install an oversized valve in a 2JZ. We have made 2200whp on stock size valves! Street car can run a stock size up to 1800whp, drag car can run stock size up to 1500whp.
FUN FACT! Oversize valve will flow less than the stock size valve up to .350 lift (9mm). This means that you will lose more than you gain going to oversized valve when using a cam under 10mm lift!!

A common concern when picking out a spring kit is adding too much spring pressure, especially in street applications. When it comes to the spring, more pressure is better than less pressure. Less pressure will result in valve float which can cause damage to your valve-train.
The correct amount of pressure will keep the springs controlled which in turn controls the valves. The number one cause of valve-train and or cam/bucket failure is not having the correct valve spring for your application. DLC won’t save you, it will only take longer for the failure to happen. If the valve spring is not happy, nothing will be happy.

Are you planning to sit in a lawn chair and listen to your car? If so, purchase the biggest cam on the market and you’ll be a happy camper!
The big chop will add happiness to your ears, but it will feel laggy because the camshaft is too big! If you enjoy beating the crap out of your car and jumping into boost, a smaller cam is the cam for you!
At this power level we suggest running the S2 cam. This will lead to lots of area under the curve that will keep your dyno happy with miles of smiles. We have used this cam up to 1800whp!
Over 1800whp we suggest switching to the GSCR2 camshafts or if running methanol go with the GSCR2M. This will give you lots of area under the curve that will keep your dyno happy with miles of smiles.
Take note! For any of these cams to function properly we do our gentle clearance on each side of the bucket hole for cam lobe clearance. The S2 cam doesn’t hit, but in some castings the lobe is so close that the oil is whisked away from the lobe and strikes the bucket dry which eventually leads to bucket failure. R2 and R2M hit and require a full clearance.

Buckets (aka lifter valves) are wearable items. The number one cause of valvetrain failure and or cam/bucket failure is not having the correct valve spring for your combination. If the valve spring is not happy, nothing will be happy. DLC won’t save you, it will only take longer for the failure to happen.
If you are shopping for heads because of a recent engine failure, it is likely your bucekts will need to be replaced. Especially if you are upgrading to a new cam.
HeadGames can polish them, if they pass our inspection, great! We will not reuse buckets that have any kind of wear, this is a recipe for failure.

You will gain faster spool time, with more area under the curve and at a lower boost
You don’t have to push your combo to unsafe boost levels to get the power you want to achieve. It is really a powerhouse with added reliability!
