2JZ Power Paks

Disassembly and Inspection
We take the disassembly and inspection process very seriously to ensure the highest quality. Each cylinder head undergoes an initial inspection during disassembly, followed by a second inspection by a separate technician to catch any potential issues right from the start.
Even if you provide new cores or disassembled heads, they will still need to be inspected for damage, unless purchased directly from HeadGames. Inspection fees apply to all cylinder heads.
- For assembled heads, a $250 service charge covers disassembly, inspection, oil plug removal, and flushing in our Ultrasonic, and Wet Blaster.
- For disassembled and new cores, a $60 inspection fee applies. Remember, new heads can have issues too!

Cleaning
We’ve put in the effort to deliver the highest standard of surface finish and cleanliness in cylinder head cleaning.
For a factory-fresh look, we offer vapor honing to restore your heads to a like-new appearance.
All heads are thoroughly cleaned using our Wet Technologies wet soda blaster, ultrasonic cleaner, or spray washer to ensure optimal results.

Power-Matched Cylinder Head Services – The Right Upgrade for Your Goals
We offer a range of specialized services to ensure your cylinder heads are optimized for performance, whether you're restoring or upgrading. Some of these services are only available based on your specific power goals—we won’t let you hurt yourself by doing too much or too little.
Below are the services you can find in the 500-700whp and 700-1200whp ranges.
Starting with our Refresh Service, we'll get your heads running like new by cleaning, re-facing valves, refreshing valve seats, setting valve lash, milling, and assembling with new Viton valve seals.
If your heads are already built, our Aftermarket Refresh provides the same benefits for heads that need a little extra attention.
For more serious performance upgrades, our Rebuild with Guides Service installs bronze guides, ensuring proper valve-to-guide clearance for durability when installing an aftermarket valve.

Unlock More Power – Precision Porting for 700-1200WHP Builds
Looking to make more power? We’ve got you covered! These services are designed specifically for builds in the 700-1200whp range. And the 1200+
- CNC Pocket Port Service – A cost-effective way to enhance power under the curve, especially for builds in the 700-1000whp range. This process optimizes the most critical area of the cylinder head by reshaping and resizing the throat and short-side radius in relation to the valve size, ensuring optimal flow.
- Pocket Port R Package – A must-have for 800+whp builds, this package adds combustion chamber reshaping to eliminate hotspots, helping to prevent detonation and improve efficiency.
- CNC Port Service – If you’re pushing 1200+whp, this is the ultimate cylinder head upgrade. (We don't recommend doing a full cnc port until 1200+whp. It will only hurt torque.
We don’t just port heads—we engineer solutions for maximum performance and reliability. Let’s build power the right way!

CNC Race Head- Proven Record Setting Performance
If you’re chasing 2000+ wheel horsepower and aiming for world-class results, our CNC Race Head is exactly what you need. This is the same race-proven head design that has helped propel many of the world’s fastest 2JZ-powered cars to record-breaking success since 2001.
Each head is fully customizable to your setup, so let’s talk about your goals, build specs, and unique requirements. Reach out via email to discuss the options and ensure you get the perfect head for your build. When it comes to turning horsepower dreams into reality, we’ve got you covered!

Oversized Valves in a 2JZ – Bigger Isn’t Always Better
Is a bigger valve always better? Not in the 2JZ. At HeadGames Motorworks, we will not install oversized valves in a 2JZ unless the build is making over 1800whp—and for good reason. We’ve proven this time and time again, setting world records with stock-size valves, including going 6’s on a 275 radial with Tony Phillips Sr. at TX2K!
Why? Because the OEM valve size actually flows better where the camshaft operates. Flow performance isn’t just about valve size—it’s about how it interacts with camshaft specs.
- Stock-size valves flow better in the range where most 2JZ camshafts operate: from .100" lift (2.5mm) to .350" lift (8.9mm).
- Oversized valves only start flowing better beyond .350" lift (8.9mm) to .500" lift (12.7mm)—which sounds good, but most 2JZ camshafts range from .390" lift (9.9mm) to .413" lift (10.5mm). That means oversized valves actually hurt flow where it matters most.
Simply put, we focus on real-world results, not just what looks good on paper. If you’re aiming for big power, trust the data—not the hype.

DLC Coated Buckets
There's been a lot of misinformation circulating about the need for DLC-coated buckets when running billet steel camshafts in the 2JZ. Some have claimed that these buckets are mandatory—but that's simply not true.
The reality is, a cam follower (often called a "bucket") is designed to follow the camshaft. However, in high-RPM conditions where valve float occurs, the cam is no longer just rolling over the bucket—it’s slamming into it. This aggressive impact displaces oil, and when the bucket runs dry, a DLC coating won’t save it. In fact, the opposite happens: the coating shatters under extreme stress, sending debris into your engine.
At HeadGames Motorworks, we’ve tested DLC coatings in race applications and have seen them fail. Instead of relying on a band-aid solution, we focus on the real fix: ensuring proper clearance between the cam lobes and the head casting, along with setting up the correct valve spring height. Not all head castings are identical, and some lobes might sit too close to the casting, whisking oil away from the lobe and causing dry contact. By clearancing the head and using the right valve spring setup, we prevent the conditions that lead to premature wear and failure—saving you time and money.
We don’t just follow internet hype; we provide real solutions based on experience and data. If you have questions about your 2JZ valvetrain setup, we're here to give you the "why"—not just opinions.

GSC Power Division – Our Choice for 2JZ Performance
When it comes to pushing the limits of the Toyota 2JZ platform, GSC Power Division is the only brand we trust. HeadGames Motorworks has a long history of setting records with GSC components, and their relentless pursuit of perfection is why we exclusively recommend their valvetrain and camshafts.
This isn’t about margins—it’s about results. We’ve installed every brand out there, and nothing gives us the same level of confidence as GSC. Their products deliver unmatched durability and power, making them the only choice for serious performance builds.
At HeadGames, we don’t follow trends—we set them. And with GSC Power Division, we keep raising the bar.
